Project in 2026:
Green energy in community scale projects
What if you could design the future of energy? In this project, you become an innovator, exploring how green energy can be predicted, produced, and managed in smart ways. From solar and wind forecasting to storage solutions and real-time energy balancing, you will dive into the full lifecycle of sustainable energy systems.
But it doesn’t stop there. The challenge extends beyond production: how can communities share energy efficiently and fairly? You will investigate models for local energy exchange, such as microgrids and peer-to-peer sharing, to ensure clean energy reaches where it’s needed most.
By combining science, technology, and creative problem-solving, this project empowers you to develop practical solutions for resilient, collaborative, and sustainable energy communities..
Technologies
For this project you will require basic knowledge of Innovative and Design Thinking, User Centered Design, IoT, Machine Learning, AI and Software Development.
In each modules you will get classes and projects to work on.
Apart from the small project, you will work on an overarching bigger project in which you implement the learned technologies.
Coaching
Coaching will be done by the stake holder, the South African Centre Biological Control (CBC), lecturers from PXL, Fontys, FH-OO, UdL and BC.
For the team coaching several online and physical meetings with the coaches will be planned.
Travelling
Travelling and experiencing other cultures are an important part of the minor.
This is not a touristic travel package, so you will need to book your flights and accomodation yourself, although tips and help are available.
