Seminarie: Delaware

In this lecture we will look at all the different steps required to get an application or product in production. Software development is much more than just the development of the code. During this session we will build a product from A to Z. 

In the first part of the lecture, you will hands-on experience the best practices when building a product. The goal is to build a product/application together with the group (mimicking real life scenario’s where multiple developers are working on the same application). Topics covered will include:

• Source control

• Branching strategies

• Pull request reviews

• Code contribution

• …

The second part will be more theoretical. It focuses more on the release management part of software development. The question we are asking here is: ‘How do we get our code from a development environment into production?’.  Topics covered will include:

• Deployment cycles: test, acceptance, production

• Test scenario’s and quality checks

• Automated build and releases

• Version management

• …

At the end of the session we will have a ‘dummy’ product that went through the full lifecycle of application development. You will personally have contributed to the final product, and understand more about what it takes to get your code into a production environment.
